Review of the Gothenburg Protocol for Industrial Processes - Annexes IV, V, VI, X and XI
Decision 2019/4, taken by the Executive Body in December 2019, established the scope and content of the review of the Amended Gothenburg Protocol. The Group for the Review of the Gothenburg Protocol (GPG) developed the document “Preparations for the review of the Protocol to Abate Acidification, Eutrophication, and Ground-level ozone, as amended in 2012 (2020/3) (AGP)”, adopted in December 2020. Annex I of this document contains a list of questions concerning all the aspects to be considered during the review process. In particular, the questions in section 1.6 relate to the Technical Annexes (TAs) of the AGP.
To answer the questions in section 1.6, the TFTEI carried out an in-depth review of the TAs in 2021: IV - Limit values for emissions of sulphur from stationary sources, V - Limit values for emissions of nitrogen oxides from stationary sources; VI - Limit values for emissions of volatile organic compounds from stationary sources; X - Limit values for emissions of particulate matter from stationary sources and XI - Limit values for volatile organic compounds content of products. The main conclusions of this review work were included in the GPG “Draft report on the review of the Protocol to Abate Acidification, Eutrophication and Ground-level Ozone, as amended in 2012” (ECE/EB.AIR/WG.5/2022/3) and in the report by the Co-Chairs of the Task Force on Techno-economic Issues (ECE/EB.AIR/WG.5/2022/1), both official documents for the WGSR at its sixtieth session in 2022.

Review of the Gothenburg Protocol for mobile sources - Annex VIII
In the scope of the review of the Amended Gothenburg Protocol, the review of its Technical Annex VIII, “Limit values for fuels and new mobile sources” and its associated guidance document was performed by TFTEI. A report has been prepared. In particular, the emission limit values (ELVs) in the existing TA VIII are compared with the emission levels achievable with latest abatement technologies. This report aims to provide a comprehensive document containing background information on abatement techniques and corresponding ELVs for mobile sources. The report covering mobile sources has been made available as an informal document for the WGSR, at its sixty-first session (September 2023).
